      POSITION SUMMARY

      The Director of Pharmacy Business and Finance will work with the Assistant Vice President of Pharmacy to provide direction to UTSW Pharmacy Serviceline to include business development, strategic planning of the department as it relates to budget planning, fiscal and resource planning/administration. The Director provides oversight and directs business development initiatives pertaining to medications aimed at driving cost reduction and revenue enhancement, achieving excellence in clinical quality and customer service for respective UTSWMC facilities

      EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

      REQUIRED

      · Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field

      · Six (6) years of directly related experience

      · (3) years in a supervisory/management capacity

      PREFERRED

      · Master’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration

      · Eight (8) years of directly related experience (Pharmacy)

      JOB DUTIES

      · Job Duties

      • Demonstrate continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual UTSWMC performance improvement targets.
      • Meets or exceeds financial goals and objectives of the Pharmacy Serviceline.
      • Productivity target compliance and development of activities within areas of responsibility that are patient centered and improve outcomes
      • Develops the annual budget for the Pharmacy Serviceline and monitors the variance of the budgets by business units. Monitoring is completed with the development of analytics tools to examine volume, utilization and all the variables that impact the portfolio of the business of the Pharmacy Serviceline.
      • Develops and manages the analytics tools and reports needed to fully understand the business factors of the Pharmacy Serviceline.
      • Supports and partners with the Chief Financial Officer on hospital and health system goals and other administrative and financial issues.
      • Conducts monthly business review sessions with each of the business units and reports those results to the AVP of Pharmacy Service Line, The Leadership position Pharmacy Serviceline reports and the CFO.
      • Participates in strategic planning to ensure that the Pharmacy Serviceline and UTSW goals are aligned and contribute toward market growth, revenue enhancement, cost containment, maximizing clinical practice and research productivity.
      • Creates and develops business plans and models and proposes changes associated with funding lines, departmental research activities, clinical activities and faculty compensation where appropriate; helps to educate departmental leadership in management and strategic planning for research and clinical programs; facilitates partnerships and strategic alliances for clinical expansion and engagement with the community.
      • Develops goals, objectives, and budgets that support the pharmacy services mission of UTSWMC. Works with the Directors of Pharmacy and AVP of Pharmacy on the implementation of short and long-term operational strategies for the Pharmacy Serviceline.
      • Advises Pharmacy Serviceline and institution on fiscal matters; ensures fiscal control through a reliable system of expenditure and revenue management; provides support to departmental leadership in managing and monitoring individual financial management issues; monitors budget and fiscal performance, recommending corrective action where appropriate; prepares and analyzes financial reports; sets up and monitors appropriate internal control practices; provides accurate up-to-date financial information to Pharmacy leadership to support the successful financial management of the department.
      • Serve as the Project Manager responsible for development, feasibility assessment, project planning and implementation of pharmacy initiatives. Provides justification and pharmacoeconomics analysis to best practice conversions.
