The Director of Security is responsible for overseeing security activities to ensure the highest level of safety and security for our guests and colleagues at The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City. This person will embody Hyatt’s Leadership Expectations and will support the Leadership Committee in demonstrating and reinforcing our hotel’s mission and values. The ideal candidate has 3 years or more of Security Management. Previous law enforcement experience as well as 3 years or more of supervisory experience in the hospitality industry is advantageous.

Director of Security will be instrument in overseeing the security operations, ensuring consistent and thoughtful service, and bringing to life extra-ordinary experience through hands-on leadership with Leadership, communications, and organizational skills. Additionally, the Director of Security will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and will have the ability and willingness to communicate with guests and colleagues from a guest service and safety perspective. This position will be responsible for the efficient running of the department in line with Hyatt brand standards, whilst meeting employee, guest and owner expectations. The Security Director will also be responsible to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the hotel’s safety and security procedures, including fire safety, employee and asset protection. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering. This position will be required to work Various shifts and holidays based on business needs.

The roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Represent the hotel and conduct regular liaison with corporate legal and security teams, appropriate law enforcement, local fire, and other emergency response authorities.
• Responsible for short- and long-term planning and the management of the security operations of the hotel.
• Oversee risk management and guest loss prevention processes including identifying and resolving potential risks, responding to loss management, and conducting investigations relating to guest and hotel issues
• Security and Safety administration including writing and implementing security procedures, completing incident reports, and initiating and coordinating first aid and CPR classes
• A relentless and infectious passion for training and hands-on operational work to effectively Hire, train, supervise and develop the hotel’s security team which consists of the Security Supervisors and officers.
• Coach and counsel security staff to reflect Hyatt’s service standards and procedures effectively
• Provide and/or oversee safety and security training for all colleagues including sufficient training for Emergency Response Team and Crisis Management support for Leadership Committee.
• Coordinate efforts for a workplace safety program involving accident prevention
• Respond to fire and life safety systems as well as guest and colleague emergencies
• Oversee access control systems CCTV systems
• Maintain fire safety, emergency preparedness programs
• Coordinate additional security for Event groups as contracted with third party security teams and attend pre-cons and perform safety briefings as requested
• Scheduling, payroll, and expenses for the Security department.
