- Adult Basic & Secondary Education — programs in elementary and secondary basic skills, including programs leading to a high school diploma or high school equivalency.
- English as a Second Language & Citizenship — programs for immigrants eligible for educational services in citizenship, English as a second language, and workforce preparation.
- Career Technical Education — a variety of career training programs that deliver customized curriculum needed to meet the diverse training and development needs of businesses, promote a skilled workforce with high growth and high wage employment potential, leading to industry certifications or meeting the required prerequisites and foundations for advanced career pathways.
- Workforce Reentry — programs for adults, including, but not limited to, older adults, that are primarily related to entry or re-entry into the workforce.
- Training to Support Child School Success — programs for adults, including, but not limited to, older adults, that are primarily designed to develop knowledge and skills to assist elementary and secondary school children to succeed academically in school.
- Programs for Adults with Disabilities — programs for individuals with physical, cognitive, mental, sensory, or other medical disabilities who may need special education assistance, or who require a modified program.
- Pre-Apprenticeship — programs offering training activities conducted in coordination with one or more apprenticeship programs approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards for the occupation and geographic area.
- To increase educational opportunities for continuing adults in the service area to include ESL, HSD/HSE Diploma Instruction, Computer Literacy and short term CTE training.
- To establish seamless transitions for students from adult school to community college and into employment.
- To increase opportunities for continuing adult learners to build job ready skills and communication for employment.
- To Provide a rigorous, relevant, noncredit education opportunities and pathways
- To establish partnerships with employers to upskill their current workforce with relevant industry-standard skills including apprenticeships.
- Develop and direct projects and outreach efforts. Organize schedule, implement and evaluate compliance with grant goals and objectives.
- Direct the work of off-site coordinators.
- Supervise staff including counselors and teachers.
- Serve as a liaison between participating school districts, high schools and feeder middle schools to ensure compliance with regulations for participation in grant-funded activities.
- Act as an educational resource and advocate for first general and low income students.
- Compile data and prepare reports required by the college and various funding sources and agencies.
- Complete and submit reports detailing compliance with grant objectives including but not limited to mid-year and annual performance reports as required by the grant or requested from administration.
- Audit and monitor special activities to ensure compliance with grant regulations.
- Confer and advise students regarding procedures required for enrollment into institutions of higher education.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate student and parent activities.
- Make presentations about the program to off-and on-campus groups in order to foster a climate supportive of the programs.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
- Interpret and apply program regulations.
- Maintain an understanding of current ideas, trends and practices pertaining to Federal Grants which support Hispanic Serving Institutions and Department of Education grants such as the Title V Program, TRIO, CAMP, HEP or the GEAR UP Program by attending local, regional, and national training and apply these appropriately for program improvement.
- Work closely with instructional staff in developing and providing professional development activities.
- Coordinate the hiring of all staff.
- Assist faculty and others, where appropriate, in the development of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the determination of their effectiveness in helping students achieve their desired learning outcomes. In addition, provide leadership for the development of SLOs within their program areas of responsibility.

Under the direction of an area administrator, provide leadership and oversight for the implementation and administration of specialized grant projects with emphasis on compliance with grant objectives. The Director of Special Grants – Continuing Education and Workforce Development will be responsible for the oversight of the California Adult Education Block Grant as well as various funding sources for workforce development activities across the campus. Distinguishing Career Features
The Director coordinates and provides leadership for the successful operations of local, state and federal programs, including but not limited to locally funded programs, federal Hispanic Serving Institutions grants, Department of Education, Department of Labor and HUD grants, state grants from the Community College Chancellor’s Office, EDD or WIA grant programs. Serving as the liaison to grant partners, local middle and high school districts, various community groups and organizations as well as colleges and universities, the Director of Special Grant Programs will work to enhance multifaceted services as well as ensure compliance with all federal and state program regulations pertaining to the grants.

Position requires hearing, moderate lifting, bending, and reaching above shoulder, sitting or standing for extended periods, speaking to exchange information and interview students, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer terminal and other office equipment.

This position requires a master’s degree from an accredited college or university. This position requires a minimum of 3 years responsible professional experience in teaching, counseling, management, or related field.
