What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Develop and implement strategic public relations and communications plans aligned with organizational goals
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with national and global media contacts to secure positive press coverage
- Prepare the CEO and executive team for media opportunities, ensuring effective communication of key messages
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create messaging for key initiatives, events, and campaigns
- Lead crisis communication efforts and develop plans to manage reputational issues
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or related field; APR accreditation preferred
- Proven experience of 8-10+ years in public relations or media relations, preferably within the nonprofit sector
- Strong media relationships and ability to secure positive press coverage across various media outlets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., Asana)
- Ability to foster a welcoming work environment for all team members
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience serving as a spokesperson for an organization, with confidence in media interviews
- Knowledge of media monitoring tools and PR analytics to evaluate initiative impacts
- Strong leadership and team management skills, inspiring others to achieve shared goals
- Commitment to staying informed on industry trends and best practices in public relations
- Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools
