      The Facility Volunteer Coordinator will work daily with facility Volunteers and other facility staff across multiple areas to ensure volunteer programming is successful. This position will be responsible for ensuring all volunteers are screened for approval and receive proper training for working in a correctional facility. This position will assist in enhancing the internship opportunities at the facility level across all departments.       Job Responsibilities

      1. As Facility Volunteer Coordinator, directs and coordinates the work of all volunteer personnel at the facility.
      2. Creates and maintains necessary records, reports, and schedules.
      3. Speaks on behalf of Corrections related to Volunteer Services.
      4. Monitors progress of volunteer services.
      5. Coordinates with institutions of higher learning and other agencies to best optimize internship experiences for the interns and IDOC.
      6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of theduties enumerated above.

      Minimum Qualifications

      1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to th completion of four (4) years of college.
      2. Requires two (2) years of professional experience in volunteer services program management, community organization, or a social science field.

      Preferred Qualifications

      1. Prefers at least three (3) years of experience directing and coordinating the work of volunteers.
      2. Prefers at least three (3) years of experience in a correctional setting providing services to individuals in custody or connecting individuals in custody to community resources.
      3. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience collecting data and providing reports to leadership.
      4. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience developing programming within a criminal justice setting.
      5. Prefers at least two (2) years of working experience with policies and procedures of an organization.
      6. Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience serving as a liaison in regard to volunteer services with community leaders and the public.
      7. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience speaking publicly.
      8. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working with computer software programs such as the Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

      Conditions of Employment

      1. Requires the ability to carry and use a state issued laptop.
      2. Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
      3. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
