      Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic, and resourceful Drug and Alcohol Support Worker to join our team. This role is based within a dynamic and challenging prison environment, working as part of Spectrum's prison-based Drug & Alcohol recovery-focused treatment model. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality support across the key elements of the service, including assessment, case management, psychosocial interventions, release planning, and throughcare. This is a great opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, flexible, and supportive team committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those we work with.

      Main duties of the job

This Support Worker role offers the opportunity to work closely with and provide essential support to a team of Recovery Coordinators within a busy and dynamic prison-based Drug & Alcohol Service. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of services that help individuals achieve their recovery goals, improve outcomes, and support successful reintegration into the community. Under the guidance of the Drug & Alcohol Service Manager (Recovery), Senior Practitioners, and other managers, the Support Worker will work effectively and flexibly as part of the wider team to maintain high standards of service delivery. The role involves working collaboratively with partner agencies to provide meaningful interventions that motivate and support service users throughout their individual recovery journeys. This position requires a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-orientated approach, recognising service users as active participants in their own health, wellbeing, and recovery. The Support Worker will also be expected to support and adhere to HR processes as directed by the management team and in line with organisational policy.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
