      POSITION SUMMARY

      Operates various offset printing presses and duplicating machines to reproduce graphic matter, forms, reports, drawings, and other materials utilizing various inks and paper stocks.

      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Sets up and operates all complex presses to produce two color, four color, half tone, and multi-color printed materials.
      • Sets up press, positions plate, and runs make ready.
      • Operates a computer to plate system to produce and develop metal plates.
      • Pre-moistens offset-duplicating machines. Receives and reviews work orders, determines paper, color, size, stock, amount of copies, ink color, etc. Loads duplicating machine with ink. Prepares, removes, and positions plate and preserves on duplicating machine. Runs proofs and jobs and forwards to finishing area. Cleans blanket cylinder.
      • Cleans, lubricates, and adjusts equipment used in printing operation.
      • Performs the duties of duplicating machine operators (off set press operator) and copy production clerk as assigned.
      • Operates auxiliary machines, such as collator, folding machine, stapler, cutter, drill, and binder.
      • Occasionally works with confidential/sensitive materials.
      • Performs related duties as assigned.

      • Must pass a physical examination and perform the physical activities associated with this position.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      • Required to lift, carry, and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
      • Required to remain in an upright position throughout most of the workday.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

      • General knowledge in the operation of two to four color off set printing press machines.
      • General knowledge of how to operate a computer to plate system software, collator, folding machine, stapler, cutter, drill, and binding equipment.
      • Ability to effectively clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment used.
      • Ability to work discretely when working with confidential information.
      • Basic computer skills and know how to multipate PDF’s

      WORKING CONDITIONS

      • Subject to noise produced by equipment operating in a print shop.
      • Exposed to conditions associated with the moving parts of print shop.
      • Subject to inks, solvents, paper dust, glues, gums, chemicals, and agents common to the printing trade.

      • Various duplicating machines, folding machines, staplers, collators, perforating equipment.
