    • Evaluate functional strengths and weaknesses through observation and administration of standardized and non-standardized procedures in:
    • Provide appropriate staff with demonstration of Occupational Therapy programs recommended.
    • Work integratively within the classroom setting.
    • Research appropriate records and prepare written report of assessment results and recommendations.
    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
    • PA State Certification/License.
    • Knowledge of and experience with neuro-developmental system.
    • Experience with pre-school population.
    • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Early Intervention.
    • Understanding of the concept of integrative therapy.

      Summary of position:
      The Occupational Therapist enables children to access their educational programs through identification and therapy when needed.

      Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details):
      • Provide initial evaluation and re-evaluation of children.
      • Evaluate functional strengths and weaknesses through observation and administration of standardized and non-standardized procedures in:
      1. Neuromuscular development.
      2. Sensory-motor integration.
      3. Fine motor skills.
      4. Gross motor skills.
      5. Proper positioning.
      6. Visual motor skills.
      7. Oral motor and feeding skills.
      8. Pre-vocational skills.
      • Provide appropriate staff with demonstration of Occupational Therapy programs recommended.
      • Work integratively within the classroom setting.
      • Research appropriate records and prepare written report of assessment results and recommendations.
      Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
      • PA State Certification/License.
      • Knowledge of and experience with neuro-developmental system.
      • Experience with pre-school population.
      • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Early Intervention.
      • Understanding of the concept of integrative therapy.
      Schedule:
      Part-time, 28 hours/week, stretch calendar

      Salary:
      Established per BCIUEA Collective Bargaining Agreement

      Berks County Intermediate Unit is IU 14. There are 29 IUs in Pennsylvania. BCIU is an educational service agency for the Berks County region. By serving 18 school districts, BCIU eliminates duplication of services and saves tax dollars.
