Assists in reading and editing opinions as adopted by the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals and received by the Reporter’s office, which include: correcting errors in spelling, grammar, fact, and citation styles; reviewing footnotes for sequence and cross-reference; checking style of consistency with previously issued opinions; and consulting with the Reporter, law clerks, and judges on major alterations required.
Reviews and verifies routine decisions, statutes, legal treatises, and propositions of law by referring to opinions as to accuracy of citations and quoted materials, and their applicability to the opinions.
Prepares opinions for release and publication;
Proofreads documents and publications for accuracy and completeness.
Consults with the Reporter, law clerks, and judges on major alterations required in opinions.
Maintains Web-based database of propositions of law, conducts routine updates, and modifies structure as needed.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Rules of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and legal citation style;
Proofreading methods;
Word processing principles and method;
Desktop publishing, preferably Adobe InDesign;
Organizing and multi-tasking various materials;
Knowledge of editing legal publications;
Courtroom practices and procedures;
Recordkeeping methods;
Computers and applicable software applications.
Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents;
Proofreading materials;
Maintaining records and files;
Meeting multiple, recurring deadlines;
Organizing and multi-tasking various materials;
Editing legal publications;
Utilizing a computer to create, edit, save and print documents;
Operating computers and applicable software applications;
Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Job Description:
This classification level provides entry-level assistance in editorial functions related to the release of opinions for the Reporter of Decisions for the Supreme Court. Responsibilities may include performing editing of routine opinions as adopted by the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals and received by the Reporter’s office; assisting in correcting errors in spelling, grammar, fact, and citation style; reviewing footnotes in opinions for sequence and cross-references; and checking style for consistency with previously issued opinions. May perform word processing, desktop publishing, and proofreading.

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related legal or editorial field; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
