What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the Educator Application & Certification Hub Alaska (TEACH AK) online teacher certification system
- Provide professional development and support for the implementation of certification programs to educators and districts
- Assist the Teacher Certification Team in managing educator and district certification needs during peak application times
- Support the implementation of the Teacher Retention and Recruitment playbook and associated programs
- Present complex laws, regulations, and processes related to educator certification to diverse audiences
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
- Minimum of four years of professional experience in education, including one year as a staff advisor/specialist, administrator, supervisor, or consultant
- Knowledge of State of Alaska educator certification requirements
- Experience with project management and collaborative working groups
- Ability to interpret state and federal rules and regulations related to the Alaska Reads Act and educator certification
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience providing training to adult learners, particularly teachers and district staff
- Possession of an Alaska Teacher Certificate at the time of employment
- Expertise in a particular educational specialty relevant to the position
