    • Provides professional development experiences in curriculum, instructional strategies, differentiation, and assessment.
    • Demonstrates and models Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) strategies.
    • Supervises implementation of WIDA standards materials for the district.
    • Participates in assigned committees and task forces.
    • Participates in professional organizations, e.g. WIDA, NAPE, or other related organizations.
    • Supports district-wide programs and initiatives.
    • Communicate with parents through telephone calls, e-mails, and other appropriate means as needed.
    • Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff regarding the school’s academic growth.
    • Provide and maintain a safe and supportive environment.
    • Maintain professional competence through professional learning activities provided by the school district and self-selected professional growth activities.

    • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with state and district testing procedures.
    • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, colleagues, and members of the community.
    • Understand and adhere to laws, district policies, and procedures.
    • Maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, district staff, and members of the community.
    • Demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.

    • Requires one of the following:
      • a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education one of the following license areas of concentration:
        • Early Childhood Education;
        • Elementary;
        • Secondary;
        • Preschool Special Education; or
        • Special Education; or
      • an equivalent license in another state or country.
    • a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education one of the following license areas of concentration:

      Job Summary:

      The Educational Equity Teacher Specialist provides resources and supports to schools, administrators, paraprofessionals, and teachers who work specifically with multilingual learners (MLs) to ensure equitable educational access and practices. This includes preparing and delivering professional development presentations, providing assessment support and academic coaching, modeling best practices, participating in district-level committees, and working with teams as they address the needs of multilingual learners in their school as they develop and refine their school Continual Improvement Plans (CIP).

      Essential Functions:
