- * Under the direction of the Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, serves as the Director of Online Learning and program coordinator for the new Richardson School of Law Hawai`i Online JD Flex Program (hereinafter, “Online JD”), responsible for working with a wide range of faculty, staff, and strategic partners (i.e., Barbri Inc.) to ensure the success of the program.
- * Leads the development of school policies and procedures relating to online and flexible learning including the infrastructure and services required to support online and hybrid learning programs.
- * Oversees Online JD program delivery and support to ensure the program operates efficiently and effectively.
- * Develops and maintains the ongoing planning process for the Online JD program by prioritizing tasks, initiating and following through on actions as needed.
- * Consults with instructional faculty, program directors, and Barbri Inc. with respect to the design and assessment of the curriculum and methods of delivery to ensure the Online JD program is satisfying accreditation standards and meeting direct student needs.
- * Plans and coordinates with the Director of Enrollment Management recruitment of new Online JD students, developing strategies and activities targeted to attracting such students.
- * Analyzes data and produces reports on the performance of the Online JD program, including critical reporting to accrediting agencies: the American Bar Association (ABA) and American Association of Law Schools (AALS).
- * Coordinates orientation programs and conducts program assessment of all aspects of the Online JD program.
- * Addresses and solves exceptional problems as necessary.
- * Ensures compliance of the Online JD program with University of Hawai’i policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Humanities, Education, Business, Social Science or related field and 5 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for providing education support services in higher education; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the field of higher education as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
- For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
- Master’s degree (or in progress) in educational administration/counseling, social sciences, or related field.
- Knowledge of ABA-accredited Law School programs and organizations, their purposes, and functions.
- Prior experience administering a part-time JD program.
- Prior experience administering an online or distance education program.
- Experience working with diverse law student populations.
