      Description

      Position Summary

      The EHS Technician is responsible for supporting and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards within the organization. This role involves conducting inspections, monitoring safety programs, and assisting in the implementation of EHS policies. A key aspect of the role includes identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in EHS practices to enhance safety and compliance.

      Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities

      Safety Inspections and Audits:

      • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

      • Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.

      • Work closely with leadership in the development and implementation of safety training, programs and protocols.

      Environmental Compliance:

      • Monitor and track environmental compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

      • Conduct environmental impact assessments and assist in reporting and documentation requirements.

      • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.

      Health and Safety Training:

      • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees.

      • Ensure employees are aware of and follow safety procedures and protocols.

      • Conduct Job Safety Analysis throughout the facility to reduce injury risks

      Incident Investigation and Reporting:

      • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.

      • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for internal records and regulatory agencies.

      • Assist in communicating with associates on safety corrective actions, plans, and implementation.

      Regulatory Compliance:

      • Stay updated on changes in EHS regulations and standards.

      • Assist in maintaining records and documentation required for regulatory compliance.

      Emergency Response:

      • Responsible for updating and implementing emergency response plans and contact information.

      • Lead emergency drills and coordinate response efforts during actual emergencies.

      Equipment and Safety Gear:

      • Ensure that safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are adequate for the appropriate jobs on the

      floor. Work with vendors to maintain appropriate stockage of PPE is available.

      • Coordinate the inspection and maintenance of safety-related equipment.

      Continuous Improvement:

      • Identify opportunities for enhancing EHS practices and processes.

      • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with teams to implement best practices.

      • Track and report on the effectiveness of improvements and adjust strategies as necessary.

      Qualifications


      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      • Skills: Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in project management.
      • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with safety inspection tools, environmental monitoring equipment, and data management software.

      • Continuous Improvement: Experience in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S) is highly desirable.

      Educational & Certification Requirements

      • Education: Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field or equivalent work experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

      • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in EHS roles or related fields. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is necessary.

      • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30-hour or similar are advantageous.

      Physical Requirements

      • Ability to conduct inspections in various environmental conditions (e.g., outdoors, in manufacturing environments).

      • Capable of lifting and carrying safety equipment and materials up to 30 pounds.

      Working Conditions

      • The role may require occasional travel (10-15%) to different sites or facilities.

      • May involve working in environments with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
