      Description

      Position Summary: Support the manufacturing groups through machine design and process improvement activities relating to electrical components and processes. Manage Electrical Engineering support staff by setting priorities and assigning projects to meet manufacturing requirements.
      Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
      • Support and communicate with maintenance and manufacturing personnel during machine downtimes, process launches, and startups (involves troubleshooting skills).
      • Provide on-call support for all manufacturing processes. Be available on a 24/7 basis to meet customer demands when necessary.
      • Evaluate existing machinery controls and implement process improvements enhancing safety, efficiency, reliability, throughput and quality.
      • Work in conjunction with project teams to ensure new machine or process designs are compliant with current specifications detailed in the Shape Corp Tool Quote and Build Manuals, as well as with NEC, OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, IEC, RIA, NEMA codes.
      • Facilitate information exchange between engineering and manufacturing teams concerning process improvements.
      • Use verbal and written skills to communicate engineering requirements to both internal customers and outside vendors.
      • Aid in applying basic welding knowledge to achieve weld quality and efficiency.
      • Design and implement PLC/Operator interface programs using GE-Fanuc and Allen-Bradley software.
      • Design and integrate controls ranging from complete systems to simple process improvements.
      • Design electrical schematics including 480V - 3 Phase distributions, safety systems, communication wiring and low voltage signal diagrams using CAD software.
      • Apply knowledge of automation devices such as: variable speed drives, sensors, servos, interfaces, I/O actuators, vision inspection etc. to machine controls and processes.
      • Integrate and program vision inspection systems.
      • Implement data collection systems for accurate machine status reporting.
      • Staff Management:
      • Conduct timely and complete performance evaluations of direct associates; and ensure timely and complete performance evaluations of associates reporting under indirect supervision
      • Assess subordinate's skill sets, current and future development needs and take steps to mentor and develop them appropriately
      • Schedule and manage projects to meet production demands.
      • Coordinate and prioritize projects within Electrical Engineering support team.
      • Identify and train a back-up(s) to manage key tasks when absent.
      • Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the leader.

      Qualifications

      Position Skills and Experience Requirements:

      • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
      • Working knowledge of AutoCad (2-D).
      • 3-5 years previous experience in an automotive related field.
      • Proficident in robotic controls and programming, specifically Fanuc and Motoman robotic systems.
      • Previous experience with the design, programming and troubleshooting of robotic machinery is preferred.
      • Previous management experience with electrical engineers.
      • Experience with Microsoft Applications (e.g. word, excel, outlook, etc).
