      Supervisor Responsibilities: No

      Location: CEDA Central at 567 W. Lake, Suite 1200 in Chicago, IL

      Schedule: 8:30a – 5:00p; some nights and weekends as necessary; schedule subject to change based on program needs


      Purpose: The Eligibility Determination Specialist will be responsible for reviewing LIHEAP applications and making a final determination of eligibility for benefits for Cook County LIHEAP residents.



      Responsibilities:

      • Responsible for being knowledgeable of State and CEDA policies and procedures that govern the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
      • Responsible for the verification and final determination of customer eligibility for the LIHEAP and Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP).
      • Responsible for entering, updating and/or correcting customer information in State and CEDA databases as needed.
      • Responsible for verifying and investigating discrepancies in customer files.
      • Ensure imminent threat households and disconnected service applications are processed according to policy and CPR/GFE payments are processed accordingly.
      • Conduct second review of applications to identify Intake Worker and verifier error trends.



      Qualifications:

      • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
      • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Energy Assistance Programs or a relevant social service operation is preferred
      • Bilingual language abilities preferred but not required (English/Spanish)
      • Experience in a nonprofit, social service organization, or a Community Based Organization (CBO) is a plus
      • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, SharePoint, Internet (Explorer, Mozilla, Chrome)
      • Experience working with various socioeconomic populations is a plus
