Education Library Service are looking for a forward-thinking, creative and ambitious person to join the friendly and dynamic team delivering library services to schools in Cornwall. Your role will include driving a 7.5 tonne Mobile Library vehicle around Cornwall and will help school children across Cornwall access appealing, high quality books that bring reading to life and contribute to a love of books.
The role will do this by driving the School Mobile Library to schools, assisting teachers and children to select books, and delivering outstanding customer service.
This is perfect if you like getting out and about, are cheerful and have good organisational and communication skills.
This role will also include carrying out work for the school libraries, processing book stock using our bespoke IT system, carrying out administration tasks and being part of delivering events and activities for school children. The role will also have the opportunity to work within the Public Library Service to gain knowledge, skills and expertise across the whole service.
The ideal candidate for this role needs to have enthusiasm, use their own initiative and work flexibly. It would be an advantage to have a good geographical knowledge of Cornwall.
You will need computer skills that enable you to use our Library Management System (training will be given for this) and Microsoft Software.
The role can be physically demanding due to lifting and shifting of books and boxes.
The current working pattern is Monday to Friday with an expectation for Annual Leave being taken within the School Holidays.
You will hold a current driving licence that covers the requirements to drive 7.5 tonne vehicle and have the necessary experience to fulfil this role.
This role is pivotal to providing the highest level of customer care in all areas delivering both the Customer Philosophy and the Customer Service Promise which have been adopted by the council as well as the "Get it Right First Time" ethos that is continually strived for within the council.
