What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide embedded software engineering support at customer locations
- Collaborate with clients to develop proposals and establish relationships with DoD and government clients
- Analyze software architecture and apply disciplined methods for optimized solutions
- Evaluate modern software development techniques and cybersecurity methodologies
- Use software analysis tools to identify weaknesses and recommend mitigation strategies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- BS with 8 years, MS with 5 years, or PhD with 2 years of experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Flexibility to travel for meetings and conferences (up to 25% travel)
- Eligibility for a Department of Defense security clearance
- At least 75% of weekly effort on-site at SEI or customer facilities
- Proficiency in software development languages such as C, C++, Ada, and firmware languages like VHDL or Verilog
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with DoD Systems Engineering lifecycle and Digital Engineering capabilities
- Experience with embedded software built using modern Real Time Operating Systems like VxWorks
- Knowledge of embedded software and firmware safety standards (e.g., MIL-STD-882E, DO-178C, DO-254)
- Experience with performance tests and interpreting results of embedded software
