- To maintain a visible presence in the department, ready to respond to any requests.
- To take reasonable action in ensuring patients property is kept safe in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
- To escort and direct patients and relatives to other areas within the Emergency Department and the wider hospital, including transferring patients on trolleys and in wheelchairs.
- To assist clinical staff in ensuring patients needs are met.
- To assist in keeping the department, well stocked clean and tidy as per ward cleaning schedule.
- To ensure resuscitation equipment, resuscitationtrolleys are maintained in good clean condition, safe working order and always ready to receive patients.
- To ensure equipment, trolleys and wheelchairs are maintained in good clean condition and safe working order.
- To ensure clinical and storage areas are kept tidy and well stocked at all times.
- To assist trained staff in preparing for clinical assessment and/or treatment.
- To undertake any other duties as appropriate.

- Previous experience of working in a fast paced, stressful environment.

Job summary

We are looking to fill the position of Emergency Department Assistant, a role which underpins the safe running and provision of care in our department. You will be responsible for the stocking, checking and maintenance of our key equipment ensuring we are ready for every eventuality. Working within a dedicated team to provide high standards of care you will be responsible for the environment aiding us to treat our patients promptly and safely.
