Job Description

- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Human Resources, or related field.
- Paralegal certification (preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in a legal or HR support role.
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR practices.
- Excellent organizational, research, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS/legal document management systems.
- Experience in Corporate Legal or Human Resources Department preferred
- First line of contact for employee concerns
- Meet with employees and leadership to de-escalate issues as they arise
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure fair and consistent application of disciplinary procedures
- Meet regularly with campus leadership to review and address employee relations matters
- Investigate workplace concerns and employee complaints thoroughly and impartially
- Collaborate with legal counsel and internal departments on employee disputes and risk mitigation
- Review, and maintain employment-related documents such as contracts, policies, and disciplinary notices.
- Assist with internal investigations, including gathering documentation and preparing summaries.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC).
- Support HR in responding to subpoenas, EEOC claims, and other legal inquiries.
- Maintain confidential employee files and legal records.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on employment litigation and legal matters.
- Conduct legal research on labor and employment issues.
- Assist with audits and compliance reviews
- Must be able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Can independently move objects up to 25 lbs.
- Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, other office machinery, and perform repetitive motions
- Must have sufficient hearing and speaking ability to communicate in person or on the phone/computer with others
- Creating a sense of community in all interactions and communications with students?

JOB TITLE: Employee Relations Paralegal
STATUS: Full-Time

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Human Resources
PURPOSE: The Employee Relations Paralegal supports the HR and Legal departments by ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, assisting with internal investigations, preparing legal documents, and maintaining employee records. This role bridges legal expertise and HR operations to mitigate risk and support organizational integrity.
