      While reporting to the Central Office EUS Section Manager in the Office of Information Technology, provides Tier I and Tier II solutions to end user computer problems of a moderate to complex nature to ensure end user productivity, and any other assigned tasks in accordance with Agency initiatives, procedures, and guidelines. Adhere to State and agency IT Security polices and standards. Primary focus on supporting agency staff and facilities. To include window devices, iOS mobile devices, managed printers, and other devices that hold data. Diagnoses and repairs mid to moderate complex problems in response to customer-reported incidents.


      Job Responsibilities:

      • Diagnoses and repairs complex to moderately complex problems in response to customer reported incidents. Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains moderately complex to complex customer hardware and software. Ensures rigorous application of information security standards. Assist with identifying and troubleshooting network issues. Document and track in agency ITSM.
      • Proactive and timely resolution to tickets based on the severity of the issue. Serves as technical consultant to client interfacing team. Assist with developing deployment schedule and logistics. Researches and provides evaluation of trends and patterns in customer support requirements.
      • Maintains good relations with agency management, vendors, co-workers and end-users. Travel on site to resolve technical issues and assist with maintaining IT asset inventory and life cycle.
      • Keep up with offered training courses to be determined by manager. Maintain knowledge of the agency's products, computer environments, platforms, and technologies. Provides advice and direction to agency on purchases of hardware and software.
      • Other duties as required.


      State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. A degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

      Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

      Agency Additional Requirements: Knowledge of IT development, implementation, and documentation in an enterprise network environment. Knowledge of IT techniques to provide support of computer hardware and software, mobile devices and peripherals deployed in an enterprise environment. Ability to establish working relationships with work team and customers. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently in establishing priorities and responding to agency needs. The employee is expected to manage multiple on-going projects and establish an effective working relationship with all internal and external customers. Must be willing to accept on call responsibilities. Must be willing to work night and weekends. Overnight travel may be required.

      • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 3 yrs. work experience in information technology (IT).
      • Associate degree in computer science or related field and 5 yrs. work experience in IT.
      • High school diploma and 7 yrs. experience in IT.
      • Strong understanding of Windows Desktop OS and knowledge of iOS, and M365/O365 software applications.
      • Basic understanding of network concepts, active directory, BitLocker, and desktop imaging and patching.
      DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.

The work performed supports DHEC’s mission to improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians by protecting and promoting the health of the public and the environment. Effective July 1, 2024, this position will transfer to the South Carolina Department of Public Health created by Senate Bill 399 which provides for the creation of the Department of Public Health to assume the public health-related functions of DHEC.
