JCI is looking for a highly motivated professional that will provide ingenuity and technical expertise in a world-class organization.
This person will lead the engineering team to design and deploy new product development initiatives. This includes ownership of all engineering design elements and processes. This position collaborates with the engineering test lab to ensure design validation testing is successful.
This position interfaces with product marketing throughout the product development process to facilitate a product that meets requirement and is efficiently and effectively deployed.
This position also interfaces with operations to ensure production readiness and design for manufacturing is implemented.
Perform technology reviews
Develop technology roadmaps for subsystems
Work with suppliers to develop solutions for new products
Align R&D with future product roadmap
Collaborate with global engineering teams on technology and best practices
Provide input for product roadmap & project requirements
Oversee project resources
Oversee project schedule
Oversee project budget and cost
Oversee FMEA, test plans, and performance data
Oversee prototype and pre-production builds
Oversee design documentation & BOM creation
Collaborate with project management to ensure project requirements are met and/or revised per design limitations
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to implement design for manufacturing production validation builds
Collaborate with the project managers to establish and meet milestones and track action items to identify and resolve issues
Act as a subject matter expert for either mechanical or electrical engineering principles
Formulate test plans and analyze results to make informed design engineering decisions
Ensure AHRI, ASHRAE, and regulatory standards are followed
Oversee international engineering priorities
Initiate continuous improvement to reduce project cycle time and increase product quality and performance
Oversee Engineering document control
Support Engineering ISO audit reviews
Oversee Engineering change requests and approvals
Oversee Engineering indirect material approvals
Create, manage, and deliver training for:
Product development process and tasks
Technical subjects and design guides
Ethics & Integrity
Employee onboarding and development
Establish employee goals and conduct quarterly reviews
Perform organizational talent reviews and employee development plans
Support employee engagement and recognition
This job has supervisory responsibilities for the Largo, FL engineering team.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering from an accredited four-year College or University is required. Master’s preferred.
Experience in leading a small to medium engineering team required.
5+ years of experience with formal product development process.
5+ years of experience with either mechanical or electrical design.
Proficiency with English language is required.
A candidate must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, and agency standards. They must also possess the ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions, effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Summary:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of mechanical and electrical engineers/designers to design, develop, test, qualify and troubleshoot commercial HVAC equipment. This includes Fan Coil Units, VAV Terminal Units and Air Handler Units. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
