Department Overview:
The Industrial Refrigeration Consortium is a collaboration between the UW and industry to improve the safety, efficiency, reliability, and functionality of industrial refrigeration systems, primarily using ammonia as the refrigerant. Anticipated Start Date:

Hours are flexible and we can work around student schedules. We anticipate 5-10 hours during the school year and 20-30 hours during the summer and/or other breaks. Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

1 Qualifications:
Student in Mechanical or similar engineering field.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience using EES, Solidworks, Ansys, and Matlab preferred.
Fundamentally sound knowledge of thermodynamic processes and cycles preferred.Position Summary/Job Duties:
Primary duties will include:
Assist staff in answering IRC member’s information request. This could range from looking up information on equipment to performing calculations.
Assist staff with development of new software tools for the IRC website.
Assist staff with the grading of homework and other tasks revolving around courses offered by the IRC.
When needed, provide clerical and other administrative services.
Additional opportunities may arise to use other skills you have and/or develop in the future. This may include operating the pressure relief valve test rig to obtain data or joining us on a site visit to a customer’s site. These tasks will be based upon our evaluation of your ability to perform the task balanced with your time limitations due to studies.Physical Demands:
Depending on project needs, you may need to spend time outdoors in various weather conditions. Climb ladders, carry ≈20lb, etc.
