      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Conduct routine inspections of food and lodging facilities, childcare centers, swimming pools, and tattoo establishments to ensure compliance with health regulations
      - Investigate environmental health-related complaints and incidents of food-borne illness to prevent the spread of communicable diseases
      - Perform plan reviews for new construction of food service establishments, swimming pools, and childcare centers
      - Maintain accurate inspection records as mandated by state law, documenting violations and corrective actions
      - Participate in on-call rotations to respond to environmental and public health emergencies

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree in environmental health or related field with relevant coursework in physical, biological, or health sciences
      - Minimum of two (2) years of environmental health experience in Food, Lodging, and Institutions in North Carolina
      - Registration required by the N.C. State Board of Environmental Health Specialist Examiners
      - Must pass the REHS exam and NEHA within the established timeframe
      - Ability to present educational workshops and effectively communicate with diverse audiences

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience in environmental health inspections and investigations
      - Knowledge of food sanitation and safety regulations
      - Familiarity with public health law and environmental health practices
      - Skills in analyzing technical regulations and reports
      - Experience in public speaking and conducting educational programs
