      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Review development proposals to ensure compliance with Maine's environmental protection laws and regulations
      - Draft permitting decisions, recommending approval or denial of permit applications
      - Collaborate with applicants, consulting teams, and state natural resource agencies to assess environmental impacts
      - Conduct site visits and participate in public meetings and hearings
      - Provide regulatory guidance during pre-application and pre-submission meetings

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Intermediate education, training, and/or experience in environmental science or a related field
      - Demonstrated ability to analyze and process permits, applications, and technical information
      - Experience with environmental laws, rules, and regulations
      - Strong analytical and writing skills
      - Experience in customer service or interpersonal relationships in a fast-paced work environment

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Education emphasizing natural resources protection and management concepts
      - Knowledge of environmental regulatory programs at federal, state, and local levels, particularly in Maine
      - Experience with GIS/database management and other computer skills
      - Demonstrated interest in the implementation of environmental policy
      - Experience with caseload oversight
