      Summary and relationship to the curriculum: This position shall be responsible for planning and designing instruction in support of English Language Learners as well as coaching colleagues in best practices in accordance with the system’s mission statement.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

        1. Works cooperatively with administrators and teachers to ensure the success of English Language Learners by improving their English proficiency levels as well as their academic

        1. Plans collaboratively with teachers (mainstream and ESOL) for effective and efficient delivery of instruction.

        1. Models appropriate lessons and instruction for English Language Learners.

        1. Leads in-service sessions for ESOL and mainstream

        1. Provides knowledge on culture diversity to help teachers with effective strategies in communicating with students and families.

        1. Screens instructional materials that will be useful to ESOL and mainstream

        1. Attends professional workshops/seminars on research-based instructional

        1. Works cooperatively with all personnel to implement an effective educational program for English Language Learners.

        1. Assists with assessing and analyzing test data for English Language

        1. Assists in the development and maintenance of English Language Learners policy and procedures for the system.

        1. Performs any other duties as requested by the Principal and Director of Federal

      1. Education and/or Experience: Must have a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Education. Advance degree a plus.
      2. Certificate or License Required: Valid Georgia professional teaching certificate in the assigned teaching field.
      3. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students.
      4. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
      5. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to apply sound educational principles to various classroom situations.
      6. Technical Ability: Must have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
      7. Customer Service Skills: Must be capable of interacting effectively with administrators, teachers, staff members, students, parents, and the general public using tactful and helpful customer service.

      1. Education and/or Experience: Must have a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Education. Masters degree or higher Five years of professional teaching in a classroom setting preferred.
      2. Certificate or License Required: Valid Georgia professional teaching certificate in the assigned teaching Must meet No Child Left Behind Highly-Qualified requirements to teach ESOL.
      3. Language Skills: Must have ability to apply teaching and learning principles to support the understanding of learning and behavior, ability to relay technical information to others in understandable terms, and ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Must have ability to write professional correspondences and reports. Must have ability to effectively present and articulate information in one-to-one and group situations to students, parents, school personnel and community agencies.
      4. Mathematical Skills: Must have knowledge and understanding of general statistical procedures. Must have ability to collect and analyze assessment data, predict outcomes, formulate strategies for obtaining a desired result, and report/present findings in print and chart/graph.
      5. Reasoning Ability: Must be able to facilitate the problem solving processes and use deductive reasoning. Must have ability to synthesize workable options from given facts, and assist in the development of workable Must effectively organize, plan and prioritize work.
      6. Technical Ability: Must have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office and other job specified technologies.
      7. Customer Service Skills: Must be capable of interacting and communicating effectively with district employees, stakeholders, community members, and the general public using tactful and helpful customer service.

      Professional Requirements: Must serve as a role model. Desirable personal characteristics are required. Appropriate dress and grooming consistent with established standards required.

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and lift. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must be able to exert or lift up to 50 pounds.

      Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Frequent travel involves exposure to traffic and outdoor elements.

      The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
