- Education: Bachelor, Master, Engineer, or PhD degree in a scientific area such as molecular biology or biochemistry
- Experience: Strong knowledge of drug discovery, genomics, proteomics, and biopharma is highly desired.
- Technical knowledge with 3-5 years of practical solution selling experience across pharmaceutical, biotech customers or at least proven experience as Applications/Product Specialist in the Life Sciences industry.
- Previous exposure to Process Development – Purification on large molecule highly desirable
- Excellent writing, presentation and speaking skills in English & and another European language.
- Collaborative teamwork across the organization.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to prospect and negotiate to successfully close sales.
- Effectively work in competitive sales situations.
- Customer focused with very good listening skills.
- Ability to maximize product exposure and raise product awareness through digital exposure (through webinars & LinkedIn)
- Ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex technical issues.
- Solid organizational skills and ability to set priorities/manage time effectively.
- Aggressively develop new prospects and penetrate competitive accounts across markets.
- Execute tactical and strategic action plans to achieve sales and financial targets.
- Visit/call customers daily to understand user needs and highlight Avantor’s solutions.
- Build technical competency with respect to the Biopharma Upstream & Downstream Process – be perceived by customers as a credible resource on Process Development.
- Build and sell innovative customer solutions with the local team members in order to continuously improve customer research and satisfaction.
- Work collaboratively with Account Managers & Product Specialist field-based and office-based specialists and Biopharma Relationship Managers.
- Negotiate prices and conditions with the customer in line with the strategy.
- Manage sales funnel and make accurate & timely reports.
- Provide product presentation, demonstration, and end-user training/workshop.
- Participate in key customer meetings (Business Review meeting) or events.
- Act as a trusted advisor for the client and oversee the effectiveness of the solution offered and its competitiveness level by continuous assessment of the sales team to ensure exceptional performance of the Avantor solution offered.
- Lead Nurturing - Proactive involvement in nurturing long-term opportunities in collaboration with field sales.
- Proactively identify opportunities to cross sell other complementary Avantor Products.
- Maintains effective relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in region.
- Conduct technical seminars and presentations at customer sites, trade shows and workshops to drive thought leader adoption of Avantor Products.
- Provide enhancements for development and optimization of solutions.
- Participate in Technical material development and ensure all FAS customer facing technical material is updated.
- Delivers quarterly feedback to Sponsors (ELT & SVP members).
Job Summary
Avantor is currently recruiting for a European Applications & Process Development Manager to be the ambassador of Avantor to provide our customers and the field sales team with consistent and comprehensive sales support to drive success.
The successful candidate will oversee Nordic countries and will be ideally located in the Netherlands.
As the European Applications & Process Development Manager, you will be responsible for supporting business development and commercial strategies for purification resins, buffers & chemicals, single use solutions as well as guiding local field personnel in the implementation of the corresponding tactics that will drive sales growth of these products.
The European Applications & Process Development Manager will be highly self-motivated to develop and implement a territorial business plan for R&D and Pre-Development whilst working in unison with their sales colleagues to deliver a strong call cycle and business development activities. The foundation of this role is to develop a keen understanding of the customers' needs to design solutions with lasting and meaningful impact.
This role will be a remote position with regular travel to our customers in Denmark, Finland, Norway & Sweden.
