      A Day in the Life…

      The Exam Invigilator monitors tests, quizzes and exams for students who are registered with Student Accessibility Services.

      The invigilator is responsible for monitoring students who are writing exams for different courses (beginning and ending at different times) and have individually arranged accommodations.

      As the Exam Invigilator, your duties will include:

      • Keeping all information regarding students and exams confidential.
      • Being sensitive to the needs of students with disabilities.
      • Keeping attendance and recording any “no show” exams.
      • Ensuring that each student is given the correct exam and starts at the correct time.
      • Ensuring that each student is given the appropriate accommodations as indicated.
      • Collecting and holding personal materials during the exam (e.g., cell phones)
      • Monitoring time for each individual student and ensuring that each ends at the correct time.
      • Ensuring that students are kept in the Exam Centre until allowed to leave (i.e., in cases where students are finished before the class starts writing, students must be kept in the Exam Centre until at least ½ hour after the class start time).
      • Taking students to the washroom.
      • Communicating with Exam Centre staff when students have questions for instructors or when students have issues with technology (many students use computers for word processing, spell checking, etc.).
      • Communicating with the Exam Centre staff if academic misconduct is suspected.
      • Communicating with Exam Centre when students have health incidents (e.g. seizure, panic attack, etc.).
      • Recording all student actions on individual exam cover sheets (washroom breaks, snack breaks, questions for professors, etc.).
      • Providing additional materials as needed (booklets, ear plugs, etc.).
      • Ensuring all pertinent materials are handed in at the end of an exam (e.g., computer printouts, formula sheets, cheat sheets, etc.).
      • Keeping all exams and cover sheets organized and submitting them together after the last student has finished writing.
      • Being aware of fire alarm and emergency procedures.
      • Assisting Academic Accommodations Coordinator with completion of incident reports.

      • Be punctual.
      • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
      • Possess a high degree of professionalism.
      • Not be currently completing academic coursework.

      Hours: Shifts between two and seven hours long, as needed during peak exam times (mid-terms and finals)

      Compensation:

      Hourly Rate: $16.70/hr
