      The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver.       The Communications & Community Engagement department is located at the Central Library and is responsible for the organization’s communications, marketing, partnerships, outreach, and community engagement efforts. The department supports all 27 locations and works with all library departments on a daily basis. The department also works with several City agencies and external partners.

      The Denver Public Library is hiring an Executive Assistant II position to provide overall administrative support to the Communications and Community Engagement department and its teams (Outreach, Communications, Marketing, Partnerships and Community Engagement). You will assist with the implementation of tactics for campaigns and strategies that amplify the organization’s brand, produce and copy edit communications and marketing collateral and content such as press releases, presentations and social media and coordinate and support special events, meetings and promotional campaigns. You will also prepare, monitor, track, update, review, maintain, and edit internal and/or external documents; keep advised of the current status of the work of the director and anticipate the director’s needs by gathering records, reports, correspondence, statistics, or other information; and maintain the director’s appointment calendar, arranges/coordinates appointments, meetings, conferences, and contact the appropriate individuals to attend. You will also communicate general information with internal staff and external entities; brief director on subject matter for upcoming meetings/events; answer telephones, screens calls and visitors, and directs individual to the proper contact; prioritize communication efforts of the manager; attend meetings and takes notes for the director; and prepares presentations for the director. This position will perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

      • Administrative experience.

      • Strong familiarity with basic workplace technology including email, internet and automated software.

      • Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations with positivity.

      • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.

      • Ability to model connection, innovation, flexibility, cultural sensitivity and inclusion.

      • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently (preferred, not required).

      • Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.

      Minimum requirements

      • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.

      • Three (3) years of administrative/secretarial experience which must include one year of experience providing support to a core middle manager.

      Other things to know

      The Communications & Community Engagement department is working primarily remotely at this time with at least one in person day per week. When in person, this position is based at the Central Library, which has no free parking. Our business office hours are 8am to 5pm, with occasional evenings and weekends.
