      About the role

      We are looking for an Executive Officer to lead a small high performing team responsible for providing a range of support services, communications, advice and project delivery to support the Deputy Secretary Fair Trading and Regulatory Services and Commissioner for Fair Trading.

      This is a varied and exciting role where you will work on a range of deliverables to ensure a seamless operation of the Deputy Secretary’s Office and delivery of operational and strategic outcomes across the Division.

      About you

      We are looking for someone who is an all-rounder. Someone who is outcomes-focused, has excellent communication skills, a passion for developing good governance processes and strong attention to detail.

      You are proactive, able to manage multiple conflicting priorities in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment, while still thinking ahead and ensuring that deadlines are met.

      You are an experienced people leader who can motivate a small team to deliver their best work in a supportive environment.

      You have excellent written communication skills across a variety of mediums to convey outcomes to leaders, staff, and the NSW community.

      You have excellent relationship building and verbal communication skills – someone who thrives building and maintaining positive relationships with high level internal and external stakeholders.

      You can analyse large volumes of information to identify trends, insights, and emerging opportunities or risks and take this forward to develop clear processes for the division and provide advice to the Executive.

      You have the capacity to quickly develop a deep knowledge and understanding of NSW Fair Trading and have a passion for consumer protection and ensuring that the NSW community can buy, sell and rent with confidence.

      Responsibilities will include

      • Lead your team to deliver across a range of competing priorities and drive best practice outcomes across the Division.
      • Be the first point of contact for your Executive and ensure optimal use of their time, determining which of the competing priorities need their attention first.
      • Research and prepare strategic advice, information and reports on diverse and complex policy, planning and operational matters to facilitate informed decision making and planning.
      • Prepare, manage and review communications including briefings, reports, submissions, presentations and notes to support decision making, ensure the comprehensiveness, accuracy, and timeliness of written information.
      • Lead and undertake projects to support the achievement of organisation level strategic and operational objectives.
      • Lead and prepare internal communications for the Division.
      • Liaise and work with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Executive including with business partners across the Department to ensure risk mitigation and the best outcomes for the Division.
      • Provide secretariat support for Executive teams, advisory panels, steering committees and similar governance bodies.
      • Develop and oversee the implementation and evaluation of administrative practices, systems and procedures to optimise efficiency and support the achievement of quality outcomes.

      Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $139,787 base plus superannuation
