Job Description

- Assists self-represented individuals during family court motions hours and throughout the day.
- Provides customer service assistance to individuals and directs inquiries to the appropriate location within the court system.
- Works collaboratively with judges and their staff daily.
- Schedules family court cases including hearings involving temporary PFA petitions.
- Files custody orders and PFA orders, and any other orders related to family court.
- Opens files and pulls files for custody and PFA hearings.
- Purges files or prepares files for storage, as needed.
- Assists in PFA court on designated days, as needed.
- Assists self-represented individuals who wish to file temporary PFA petitions.
- Attends PFA court and prepares final PFA orders for the assigned judges review and signatures.
- Utilizes the civil filing system (IQS) and CPCMS computer application.
- Assists family court hearing officers with clerical needs including typing opinions/orders and scheduling of hearings.
- Responsible for assisting in monitoring the familycourtmotions@luzernecounty.org email address and directing the correspondence appropriately.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Ability to work effectively and compassionately with individuals in emotionally charged situations.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
- High School Diploma and at least three (3) years of experience with administrative and/or data entry.
- This position deals with highly confidential information and the employee must strictly adhere to the UJS Code of Conduct for Employees.
This position works within the family court system and will be a cross-trained position to work between the custody/divorce and protection from abuse (PFA) offices. Work is performed exercising sound judgment and discretion under the supervision of Office of Court Administration.
