What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct statewide field audits of attorneys' trust and business accounts for compliance with New Jersey Court Rules and accounting practices
- Examine financial records to ensure proper accounting procedures are implemented
- Reconstruct records as necessary to verify maintenance and disbursement of funds by attorneys
- Interview attorneys to assess compliance levels and identify accounting deficiencies
- Prepare detailed reports and assist in investigations related to ethics proceedings based on audit findings
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 21 credit hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, and/or finance, with a minimum of 12 credit hours in accounting
- Three years of professional experience in accounting, finance, auditing, and/or budgeting
- Valid driver's license in New Jersey, if vehicle operation is necessary for job duties
- Authorization to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security regulations
- Completion of a thorough background check, including fingerprinting
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master’s degree in business or public administration, economics, accounting, or finance
- CPA designation
- Experience in compliance auditing and financial record examination
