- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including experience with data entry, formatting, and reconciliation functions.
- Interest in gaining or expanding accounting experience in a structured, professional government office environment.
- Preference may be given for applicants with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field.
- Experience in medical billing, copay administration, or healthcare-related financial service in an institutional setting.
- Experience with financial reconciliation, copay dispute resolution, refund processing, and report generation.
- Familiarity with medical copay processes, including charges for appointments, prescriptions, outside medical care, and supply items.
- Experience handling confidential financial and medical information with accuracy and care.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments to ensure accuracy in shared reports like reconciliation trackers.
- Knowledge of or experience with state financial systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision-complete tasks and meet deadlines without constant oversight.
- Ability to analyze and reconcile monthly financial reports, including identifying discrepancies and initiating corrections.
- Comfortable working with sensitive or confidential information related to healthcare and financial matters.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure timely and accurate completion of high-volume, repetitive financial tasks.
- Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date.

Financial Analyst ll -Medical Copay
The Utah Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Finance and Administration is hiring a Financial Analyst II with focus on medical copays. This role is an integral part of the Finance Office, supporting financial operations related to inmate medical services. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in managing financial data and reconciliation tied specifically to copay transactions.
Location: Utah State Corrections Facility
Work Schedule: This is a hybrid position, requiring up to two days per week in-office at the Utah State Corrections Facility, with the remainder remote. There is an option of an 8 hour, 5 days a week schedule, or an 10 hours, 4 days a week schedule.
This position is ideal for a candidate looking to gain or expand accounting experience in a government setting, particularly in healthcare-related finance. This position offers exposure to state financial systems, policy compliance, and internal financial controls. This is a full time position that includes state benefits, such as health care benefits and retirement benefits. Work hours may be flexible to meet the needs of the employee.
