- Lead the monthly balance sheet review process as part of monthly consolidation and reconciliation process including review of key risk areas in the balance sheet including fixed assets, working capital and treasury balances.
- Manage the balance sheet external audit process including resolving queries and issues raised by auditors.
- Assist with the preparation of the consolidated reporting for the Group on a monthly basis, including assisting with the close cycle, the operation of the consolidation systems and related adjustments and reporting key movements in the balance sheet. This will also include the preparation of the Group balance sheet for budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Assist the high-quality documenting of end-to-end processes and controls to meet statutory compliance requirements including leading on the balance sheet review process across the Group. Ensure that governance and internal financial control over processes are robust and comply with Cadent Gas frameworks.
- Responsible for the monthly accounting for two holding companies within the Group structure.
- Proactively building own knowledge of Financial Reporting, Treasury and Regulatory Reporting and its impact on the industry and business in order to support key decisions and advise and guide own business area.
- Proactively contribute to the development of a highly motivated, innovative and customer focused Finance team.
- Supporting the delivery of change across Finance and the business, modelling new ways of working and owning delivery of key outcomes to drive the improvement of long-term business capability.
- Maintain Accounting Policies and Manuals and the provision of expert accounting advice to all parts of the Business and assist with the technical accounting presentations.
- Qualified Accountant with a UK recognised body or equivalent (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA).
- Working knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP with experience of applying principles in complex situations.
- Knowledge and experience of risk and internal control frameworks and their application ie working with balance sheet reconciliations, best in class controls etc
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical matters to stakeholders across the business and to effectively interface with a number of key stakeholders.
- Ability to approach complex problems in a methodical and logical manner and to apply technical expertise and knowledge of standards to new areas where there is potentially limited guidance.
- Demonstrating the initiative in investigating issues and thinking outside the box.
- Working knowledge of Planning, forecasting and budgeting with good presentations skills and skills in report writing.
- Experience of transaction and close process management.
- Experience of preparing high-quality Financial Reporting with prior exposure to consolidation systems and/or accounting system (e.g. SAP or BPC).

Contract Type: 18month FTC
Salary: £44,845 - £52,758 per annum, plus excellent benefits

Cadent Gas have an exciting and new opportunity to join their Financial Reporting team as a Financial Reporting Specialist.
As a Financial Reporting Specialist you will report directly to the Financial Reporting Manager the role will ensure that Balance Sheet Reporting processes are fit for purpose and operated in a consistent and controlled way. Forming close relationships with Specialist teams across Cadent (Pensions, Tax, Controls, operational finance) and/or External specialists (Auditors, Pensions advisors etc.) the role will take accountability for the preparation of the balance sheet reporting and provide technical accounting advice to members of the wider Finance team.
