      Joining the Secret Service, Office of Investigations, Forensic Services Division, Fingerprint Operations Branch will allow you to conduct forensic analysis to develop and identify latent print ridges on evidence utilizing various methodologies, techniques, and practices. This Fingerprint Specialist position starts at a salary of $117,962 GS-13, with promotion potential to $153,354 GS-13, step 10.

      Duties


      This position is with the United States Secret Service, Office of Investigations (INV), Forensic Services Division (FSD), Fingerprint Operations Branch (FOB). FSD is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating forensic science activities including, but not limited to expert examination of questioned documents, latent prints, papers, inks, and other related materials; the administration of polygraph examinations; and the analysis and preparation of photography and evidence for court appearances. FOB is responsible for the examination and processing of evidence for latent prints and the subsequent comparison and searching of latent prints developed.

      Qualifications


      You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $117,962.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
      1. Examining material and/or evidence to collect latent, fragmentary, or imperfect prints;
      2. Preparing reports to communicate procedures, results, and/or findings of print analysis; and
      3. Processing evidence in accordance with legal guidelines to ensure compliance.
