      Firefighter/Paramedic

      We are searching for an experienced Firefighter/Paramedic as a full-time Regular Employee to join the “Magic Behind the Magic” at the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District!!

      RCID is hiring Firefighter/Paramedics from this assessment. Please see below for assessment details and follow instructions to be fully considered. There is not an established closing date at this time. Closing date will be determined based on application volume.

      Initial Process:

      1. Submit online application with all documents that show you meet minimum requirements. Tip: When submitting your online application, combine as many document copies into one PDF file as possible. Only six separate attachments are allowed to be attached with your application.
      2. Interested candidates are required to complete the following assessments via National Testing Network (NTN) as soon as possible: FireTEAM Written Exam (no minimum required) & Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) testing (pass/fail score). We will accept CPAT test scores from January 2022 and after.
      3. Only candidates who pass the above required steps and are assessed by the Fire Dept. panel, will be contacted for next steps.

      Note: NTN scores will be accepted from January 2022 and after. Once NTN testing & requirements have been completed, interested candidates should wait to be contacted further. Once NTN results are compiled, RCID will reach out to those selected on an “invite only” basis for the next phase of the hiring process.

      ***Candidates who do not complete all three phases (FireTEAM and CPAT) will not be considered to move forward in the process.       Position Summary:
      Firefighters Paramedic general job functions include responding to and resolving emergency and non-emergency fire, rescue, emergency medical, hazardous materials and related incidents.

      Responsibilities:

      • Responds to and resolves emergency and non-emergency fire, rescue, emergency medical, hazardous material and other related incidents.
      • Directs fire streams and other extinguishing agents and processes in a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations, occurrences and occupancies including structures, facilities, vehicles, agricultural settings, accident scenes, spills and other related incidents.
      • Rescues and extricates victims from structures, vehicles, trains, monorails, aircraft, watercraft and other locations involved in hazardous environments and entrapments.
      • Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed. Maintains knowledge and proficiency in medical protocols as set forth by the Medical Director.
      • Provides advanced life support medical treatment as required. Monitors and records patient's vital signs and information.
      • Completes reports and other required documents.
      • Communicates with on-line medical direction via radio and/or telephone.
      • Provides a variety of non-emergency public relations, public services and assistance as required.
      • Determines and applies rescue and emergency medical care, techniques and practices to provide immediate medical aid to the ill and injured.
      • Provides and attends classroom and practical emergency services training and education.
      • Works as a team member and/or individually in carrying out a variety of assignments in emergency services situations.
      • Maintains knowledge of Department rules, regulations, policies, procedures and the labor contract. Maintains issued clothing and equipment.
      • Maintains familiarity with assigned area and hospital locations/designations.
      • Conducts Public Education Programs as assigned.
      • Others duties as assigned.

      Required Qualifications:

      Minimum Requirements:

      • High School Diploma/GED
      • Florida Driver License
      • Florida Firefighter Minimum Standards License (no out of state allowed)
      • Florida Paramedic License (no out of state allowed)
      • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) series completion or equivalent
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
      • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider
      • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider
      • NTN CPAT – with result of ‘PASS’
      • Ability to pass Orange County Protocols within 6 (six) months of hire

      Preference will be provided for:

      • Two-year degree in related field
      • Truck Company Operations Class
      • Rope Rescue, Technician Level
      • Confined Space, Technician Level
      • Hazardous Materials, Technician Level
      • Hazardous Materials Paramedic
      • TECC (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care)
      • PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support)/ BTLS (Basic Trauma Life Support)

      Driving Requirements:
      Must possess a valid Florida State Driver's license and maintain eligibility under the District's commercial vehicle program.

      Physical Demands:

      • While performing the duties of this job, an employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, touch, speak, hear, and see. An employee is occasionally required to bend, kneel, reach, twist, carry, climb, push and pull.
      • An employee must lift and/or move small articles and occasionally lift objects up to 20 pounds.
      • An employee must demonstrate fine motor skills and to be able to operate vehicles and other equipment.
      • An employee is occasionally required to work in heat, cold and wet/damp conditions and to navigate uneven and/or outdoor terrain.
      • Certain positions may require work above ground or in enclosed spaces.
      • Certain positions may have requirements of 50 pounds maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
      • Positions requiring strength demands in the Heavy and/or Very Heavy category have detailed physical performance analyses available for review.

      The starting hourly rate for this position is $26.44/hr, or $66,000.00/yr.
