      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Act as the LAO's expert in assigned policy areas, conducting thorough analyses of budget and policy issues
      - Engage in fieldwork to understand program operations and effectiveness
      - Maintain communication with legislative and administrative staff, industry groups, and nonprofit organizations
      - Develop recommendations and reports for the Legislature, including testimony before legislative committees
      - Ensure all work is objective, analytical, and timely to meet legislative needs

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Master's degree in public policy, public or business administration, economics, or a related field
      - Strong quantitative and analytical skills
      - Effective communication abilities through clear writing and oral presentations
      - Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment
      - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Previous experience in fiscal analysis or policy development within a governmental or nonprofit context
      - Strong critical thinking skills and creativity in developing policy recommendations
      - Familiarity with California's legislative processes and budgetary issues
