What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist in collecting, analyzing, and prioritizing information related to illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing by foreign nations
- Develop briefing materials on IUU fishing and sustainable international fisheries management for NOAA officials and staff
- Coordinate travel logistics and presentation materials for IUU fishing and international outreach
- Attend international meetings and workshops to represent the employer
- Create reports, briefing materials, and outreach materials for IUU fishing and sustainable fisheries management initiatives
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Master's degree or higher with 5+ years of experience in policy or resource management related to protected species and fishery management
- In-depth knowledge of IUU fishing, global fisheries, and the interconnections between fisheries and markets
- Familiarity with implementing fisheries statutes such as the Moratorium Protection Act and Maritime SAFE Act
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
- Exceptional communication skills, including advanced professional writing abilities
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in developing international fisheries management materials and outreach strategies
- Background in environmental science or policy related to marine resources
- Proven track record of attending and participating in international regulatory meetings
