- Primary clinical healthcare qualification
- Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body
- Previous experience of management of medical education
- Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development (example: educator courses, Train the trainer, etc)
- PGCert in medical education or higher
- Medical, dental or general practitioner with postgraduate qualifications
- Full or Specialist GMC registration with a licence to practice. Educational accreditation from the GMC
- Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years
- Knowledge of management structures in relation to Medical Education
- Interest and enthusiasm for improving the delivery of Postgraduate Medical Education and Continuing Professional Development

Job summary
NHSE is looking to appoint a Foundation Training Programme Director at to lead on Faculty Development and development of the PGVLE resource. The post would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced educational supervisor aiming to further develop their educational portfolio.
The Foundation Training Programme Director is responsible for theoverall management and control of the foundation programme year.They will work with the local lead educators to ensure that eachplacement of the programme and the programme as a whole meets theLocal NHSE area standard for training and that each trainee is able toaccess a comprehensive range of experiences which will enable them togain the capabilities necessary for full registration and completion of thefoundation curriculum.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is accountable to the Postgraduate Dean and theFoundation School Directors (FSD). The post holder will focus onengagement and training of faculty and ensuring effective educationaloutcomes; development and delivery of regional and local postgraduateeducational development courses; setting up courses in local centresand liaising with local Trusts and Postgraduate education centres.In addition, the post holder will continue to develop the FoundationPGVLE resource with support from the local PGVLE team, ensuring theresource is updated and continues to be relevant to foundation training.They will be responsible for delivering a regional PGVLE teachingsession, a minimum of three times a year.The Foundation Training Programme Director will focus uponimprovement of learner supervision, assessment and experience,engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes,both now and in the future.
