      Title: Freelance 508 Compliance Specialist

      Role Type: Freelance

      Location: Remote

      Client: Federal Government Agency

      Timeframe: Ongoing through early-to-mid 2024

      Responsibilities Include:
      • Format and write descriptions for client's documents, graphics, and charts to meet Section 508 accessibility standards.
      • Return deliverables to the client within established timeframes, sometimes as quickly as 48 hours.
      • Apply knowledge of federal laws that protect the rights of individuals with disabilities (i.e., Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).

      Required Qualifications and Skills:
      • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
      • The ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
      • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with Section 508 compliance and remediation for a federal or state government agency.
      • Experience validating documents for 508 compliance against WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards a plus.
      • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
      • Familiarity with federal laws that protect the rights of individuals with disabilities.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe.
      • Ability to work independently.
