      Position Summary/Job Duties:

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Junior or Senior Interior Design student to provide an interior concept design for our basement remodel. The primary goal is to create a design that seamlessly matches the architectural style, color palette, and "feel" of our home’s upper levels.

      Scope of Work & Deliverables:

      • Initial Audit: One site visit (or detailed virtual tour) to document the design "DNA" of the upstairs (trim, colors, lighting styles, and materials).

      • Thematic Mood Board: A digital board of the proposed aesthetic for the basement, including textures, furniture styles, and color swatches.

      • Furniture Layout (Floor Plan - CAD or hand-drafted): A 2D bird's-eye view.

      • Material & Finish Palette: A list of specific suggestions for:

        • Wall Treatments: Accent walls (wood slats, textured wallpaper, or specific paint colors).

        • Flooring: Which LVP or carpet style works best with the "vibe."

        • Trim & Hardware: Door handle styles, baseboard height, and light fixture finishes.

      • A "Light Map": Suggestions for where to put recessed cans, sconces, or pendants to make it feel like a "real floor" and not a basement.

Note: This is a conceptual project. You will not be responsible for construction management or technical electrical/plumbing engineering.

We'd be happy to provide photos of the finished basement (if built) for your portfolio.

      Qualifications:

      • Current enrollment in an Interior Design or Architecture degree program (Junior or Senior preferred).

      • Proficiency in 2D/3D modeling software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar) or high-quality hand-drafting.

      • Strong understanding of color theory and material coordination.

      • Ability to translate an existing design "theme" into a new space.

      Application Instructions:

Please email your resume and a link to your digital portfolio (or 2–3 samples of previous coursework/mood boards) to vmuruganpurchases@gmail.com. Please include "Basement Design Project" in the subject line.
