    • Maintain the Brooklyn Center Elementary gardens' good condition by planning and preparing for its use, planting, harvesting, weeding, etc.
    • In collaboration with a variety of staff and community partners, expand the reach of BCCS outdoor learning initiatives, support volunteer coordination, classroom & community outreach, event planning and produce distribution
    • Support the projects of Brooklyn Center Middle & High School garden interns and their work with BCE students.
    • Thorough knowledge of how to maintain a garden required
    • Ability to collaborate with and recruit others to supoprt the outdoor learning vision in BCCS

    • The Brooklyn Center Community Schools (BCCS) District is seeking applicants to join our community schools team as a school Garden Lead .

      Essential Job Responsibilities:

      • Maintain the Brooklyn Center Elementary gardens' good condition by planning and preparing for its use, planting, harvesting, weeding, etc.
      • In collaboration with a variety of staff and community partners, expand the reach of BCCS outdoor learning initiatives, support volunteer coordination, classroom & community outreach, event planning and produce distribution
      • Support the projects of Brooklyn Center Middle & High School garden interns and their work with BCE students.

      Duty Days: Flexible schedule - 2 hours per week during April, May, September and October, 5-8 hours per week during June, July and August.

      Pay: $22/hr

      Knowledge, Skills and, Abilities Preferred:

      • Thorough knowledge of how to maintain a garden required
      • Ability to collaborate with and recruit others to supoprt the outdoor learning vision in BCCS

      Physical Requirements : Work requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Must be able to go outside daily. Must be able to perform the physical duties required to maintain the school garden including lifting, bending, carrying/hauling, watering, weeding, harvesting, planting, etc.
