      Assist in the daily operations of Child Support Services by performing assigned duties involving customer service, data entry, document preparation and processing, and court-related activities. This work may be varied and may often involve intermediate-level analysis, problem solving and clerical skills. Requests for information will often not be provided in a standardized form.

      1. Provides customer service in person and by telephone, answers routine questions and refers complex requests to appropriate staff, determines if requests for services meet Child Support Services basic criteria and distributes applications accordingly, and provides other possible sources of assistance to those whose cases do not meet basic requirements.
      2. Performs data entry into statewide virtual case file system including recording incoming documents in Case Log Macro; scans and indexes documents for virtual case files; and imports orders from Tarrant County District Clerk's system (JIMS).
      3. Documents all communications with clients and attorneys associated with IV-D cases into the statewide system.
      4. Maintains statistics on the number of telephone calls, walk-ins, and applications and referrals received.
      5. Processes applications and referrals for Child Support Services including entering case tracking information into Case Management System.
      6. Greets and directs clients appearing for courts.
      7. Opens and delivers mail to staff.
      8. Maintains judge and attorney phone line for pay record request and logs requests and emails to appropriate party to complete request.
      9. Works morning mail and correspondence on the IV-D case management system.
      10. Handles all certified mail for the office via Sendpro.
      11. Assists with training new employees.
      12. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

      • High School diploma or equivalent.
      • Three (3) full-time years of general office and/or clerical experience.
      • Must possess strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills, working knowledge of basic computer/office equipment.
      • Bilingual skills preferred.

      If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing.


      Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

      While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, grasp/squeeze, hear, keyboard, kneel, lift below the waist, push, reach overhead, see near, sit, stand, talk, use his/her hands, walk, and work alone and with others.
