Job Description

- Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes
- Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients
- Filing of lab results as protocol
- Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.
- To undertake all HCA duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Nurses and GPs.
- Providing a chaperone when required
- Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomy
- Support the GP with immunisations/wound care
- Provide assistance in minor surgery ensuring patients care by chaperoning.
- The collection of clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal.
- Post holder must hold a GP Assistant Certificate qualification or work towards this.
- Attend all relevant annual updates
- Inform the lead GP of any concerns regarding GPA role and any professional development needed
- Be aware of own professional boundaries and what to do when you have reached them

Job summary
Northgate Village Surgery is located in the purpose built building Fountains Health Centre, we have a strong focus on health promotion and personalised care, supporting patients to make informed decisions about their health and social care. We are a dynamic, friendly, and supportive team with experience in training GPs and other healthcare professionals.
This role will support both nursing and administrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
Utilising the NHS Health Education England GPA Competency Framework, the post holder working within general practice/primary care will provide capabilities within care, administration, clinical, communications and health records management.

The surgery offers monthly specialised implant and IUD fittings and a minor surgery clinic. The practice is a member of the Chester Central Primary Care Network which offers our patients appointments with a Physiotherapist, Mental Health Councillor, Paramedic for home visits, Health &, Wellbeing coach, Dietician, Occupational Therapist and a Care-Coordinator, Mental Health worker and Mental Health Occupational therapist and more.We are looking for an experienced, hard-working and enthusiastic General Practice Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team here at Northgate Village Surgery on a permanent contract.
The practice values high quality care for our patients, therefore it is key for the candidate to have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills to ensure that care is provided safely, effectively and to a high standard.
