Reporting to the Program Manager or designate, and under the general supervision of Medical Genetics Physicians and Genetic Counsellors, utilizing critical thinking skills and clinical judgement, the Genetic Counselling Assistant performs a variety of clinical support functions for the Medical Genetics Team. Duties include maintaining patient records and files using standard office software, preparing funding applications for out-of-country lab testing, drawing pedigree, supporting the clinical team in preparing for and following up on patient appointments, assisting clinicians with ordering genetic testing, and communicating with patients and providers. All duties are performed with established protocols, guidelines, policies and procedures under the direction of Medical Genetics Physicians/Genetic Counsellors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
Graduation with Certificate in a related health science or social science discipline, medical terminology and two (2) years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
