      Performs various responsibilities, including medical record management, triaging appointments, coordinating follow-up, facilitating genetic testing, patient interaction, and support of clinical staff.

      Job Responsibility

      1. Obtains and documents family history information, and as appropriate, generate patient pedigrees in pedigree-making software.
      2. Enters relevant patient data into EMR systems.
      3. Assists with patient chart review and case preparation for genetics patients (i.e. ensuring required medical records are obtained and managed).
      4. Assists with coordinating genetic testing for patients and family members, including sample collection and preparing test requisitions.
      5. Research genetic testing labs and coordinate insurance coverage for genetic testing.
      6. Discloses negative genetic test results, as requested by genetic counselor.
      7. Communicates with genetic counselors, team members, laboratory, and insurance personnel in an effective and timely manner.
      8. Prepares letters of medical necessity for genetic testing.
      9. Performs prior authorization requests for genetic testing, as needed.
      10. Triage, track referral, and assists with scheduling team by evaluating personal and family history information.
      11. Answers telephone, manages voicemail, schedules appointments, and communicates with patients and clinicians.
      12. Assists patients with utilization of telehealth services.
      13. Answer and resolve routine patient inquiries via telephone and email.

      Job Qualification

      • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
      • 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferred.
