What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Maintain GIS data accuracy, compatibility, consistency, and standardization, ensuring no spatial or data conflicts.
- Assist in GIS projects by defining project needs, specifying datasets, and conducting data analyses.
- Coordinate special projects, including attending meetings, preparing demos, and providing staff training.
- Provide software support, including documentation, training, and technical assistance for GIS applications.
- Troubleshoot issues and deliver end-user support, particularly for public safety-related GIS applications.
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in geography (GIS concentration), information technology, or computer science.
- Two years of experience in a GIS-related field.
- Valid, unrestricted North Carolina driver's license, or willingness to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
- Proficiency in Esri mapping solutions and applications.
- Strong technical support skills and ability to assist with GIS data management.
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- GISP certification (or actively pursuing certification).
- Experience with enterprise management systems and mapping integration.
- 2-5 years of professional GIS experience, preferably in a local government or public safety environment.
- Familiarity with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management Systems.
- Knowledge of data quality assurance methods for key datasets.
