- Utilizes ArcGIS Online to create and maintain feature services and web mapping applications
- Reviews geographic data from various sources, including other state agencies, aerial imagery, existing maps, and databases.
- Assists in the creation of custom tools and applications using Python, HTML/Javascript/CSS, SQL, FME and/or other coding languages
- Creates and maintains cartographic products using ArcGIS.
- Develops and maintains links between attributes and other databases.
- Follows documented workflows, standard operating procedures and best practices to consistently produce high-quality data with minimal errors or corrections.
- Uses linear referencing to update and maintain the roadway network and attributes.
- Researches new software and/or techniques for improving performance or processes.
- Represents the organization at meetings and other forums.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Assists with administering SDEs, ArcGIS Online accounts, GitHub, and other accounts
- May serve as lead worker or project leader
- Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, or related field.

!*!TxDOT's Transportation Planning and Programming (TPP) Division is looking for a GIS Analyst based in Austin, TX, who is passionate about spatial data and is experienced in Python, SQL, JavaScript, or FME; having experience with linear referencing is a plus. As a GIS Analyst in TPP, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of data in the division's geospatial roadway inventory database, as well as providing solutions to improve processes and develop products to assist with daily workflows. The successful candidate will also act as a liaison between the division and TxDOT's district personnel.
GIS Analyst II - B20 Salary Range $63,000.00 - $68,000.00

GIS Analyst II:

Provides technical assistance and support of transportation related activities or projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Performs advanced geographic information systems (GIS) data development, integration and analysis, produces maps and graphics, and extracts, analyzes and reports data. Provides technical assistance and support of transportation activities or projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
