We are on the lookout for a true leader to handle the demand of GIS Technology projects to meet our business needs to include Community Development, Public Works, Transportation, Water and Public Safety. As the GIS Manager, this individual will leverage their business and technical knowledge to bring the latest, most innovative GIS solutions to the City.
SUMMARY
Incumbent manages the Geographic Information System (GIS) Division of the Information Technology Department. The City’s GIS Division is a highly integrated complex enterprise system based on the ESRI platform, which is used as a basis for operations in many City departments. Incumbent promotes GIS effectively as a business solution; manages GIS resource planning to include understanding and evaluating business requirements to transform and integrate into specific application solutions; develops GIS datasets for business intelligence, cost evaluations, standards review, and prioritization with customers and team; and manages the resource availability to continuously support City departments and evaluates GIS resource capacity to ensure optimum solution and performance. Incumbent also manages complex GIS projects, including the initiation, planning, monitoring, controlling, and implementation of GIS projects. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, GIS, Information Management Systems, Urban Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a related field, five years of demonstrated professional working experience in geographic information systems (GIS) technology and ESRI products or closely related experience,, and three years of supervisory experience directly related to the area assigned; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed on the job description. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) Certification preferred
