      We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Global Head of Media Relations to join our Communications team. This role is located in New York, NY – Hybrid.

      In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

      • Lead media relations for the bank, overseeing the firm’s proactive and reactive media approach.
      • Manage how the firm prepares and responds to public relations matters that pose a reputational risk, including incidents and crises.
      • Act as counsel to senior leaders and business stakeholders, fostering relationships across the BNY Mellon enterprise.
      • Oversee corporate narrative and guide direction of press announcements, media engagement, quarterly earnings, executive social media and messaging.
      • Lead the public affairs approach in Washington, DC, Brussels and other capitals, coordinating how the firm is positioned in market(s) with government stakeholders.
      • Manage a team of media relations and external communications professionals shaping the perception of BNY Mellon

      To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

      • Demonstrated track record of excellence in developing and executing external communications and media relations for a large, global financial services firm.
      • Deep and broad business acumen; solid understanding of BNY Mellon’s business (financial services experience is required)
      • Able to present and defend a point of view with the senior leadership team, internal colleagues and external media regarding how to best position the enterprise within the competitive landscape.
      • Prior experience managing teams.
      • 12 - 15 years of professional experience in media relations and corporate communications, preferably for a financial services firm
      • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of work experience required.

      BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $144,000 and $266,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.


      This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
