      We make health happen!

Bupa has set an ambition, at the heart of its strategy, to be the world’s most customer centric healthcare company. With key targets such as world leading NPS scores, and integrated digital and physical care, Bupa is transforming to fulfil its purpose of “helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world”.

To achieve its ambition, the role of a Group Health Transformation & Innovation Director is critical. The healthcare industry is at a pivotal moment, with increasing customer demand for convenient high-quality care and the growing prevalence of data and AI powered solutions that transform the customer journey, and the way care is delivered.

The purpose of this role is to provide teams with best practice thinking and practical expert support on healthcare innovations that transform the customer and colleague experience, improve healthcare outcomes, and create sustainable value that allows Bupa to reinvest in its purpose. The Director will lead a small team - collaborating with others from the Chief Transformation and Strategy Officer's Team - to (i) develop innovative healthcare products and services, (ii) source and incubate new strategic partnerships, and (iii) build & manage a centre of expertise on major healthcare transformation themes.

As a dynamic, collaborative, and credible leader, you will work closely with Market and Business teams as well as other functional experts including Clinical, Customer and Technology. The role has a mandate from the CEO & CSTO to challenge upwards as well as downwards. So, it is important that the role holder is someone who has demonstrated they can work collaboratively, whilst applying the right level of influence and support to deliver meaningful progress at pace.

How you’ll help us make health happen:

      • Digital Product Management: Coordinate the strategic development and growth of Blua - our global digital health proposition - to create the world’s most customer-centric and valuable digital health product
      • Product Innovation: Draw on insights from customer research, clinical innovation, and technology and market trends to bring valuable ideas to life - piloting and building successful propositions with and for Market teams, in a way that drives global collaboration and rapid adoption
      • Connected Care: Support the integration of our funding and provision (digital and physical) footprint, including providing Bupa and industry best practice to help teams deliver truly integrated frictionless care
      • Healthcare Transformation: Build a centre of expertise around product innovation, proposition design and commercialisation to help teams achieve their strategic priorities. Support delivery of healthcare proposition projects, including managing strategic projects end to end – from ideation, design, commercialisation, through to implementation
      • Strategic Partnerships: Support strategic partnerships to deliver against our Group priorities, such as relationships that help us strengthen our product distribution, brand affiliation and customer growth; coordinating key processes including due diligence, deal making, procurement and negotiation
      • Stakeholder management: Inspire and influence key teams across markets and functions, to work well together and deliver against ambitious goals. Harness internal and external network and assets to build and share intelligent insights and support. Provide reporting and assurance on progress to the CEC and Board as required.

Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role:

      • Expert in healthcare innovation and translating into valuable products, including digital health
      • Proven track record of managing and building commercially successful products using agile and customer design principles
      • Experienced in driving change and transformation consultation for senior business and group leaders
      • Significant global leadership experience operating in complex and multi-national environments
      • Strong bias to delivery through direct and in-direct (influencing) people management, and coalition building to enable effective collaboration across Market, Business and Functional teams – including Group Clinical
      • Credibility at Board, CEO, and Executive Team levels and able to provide strategic counsel as required
      • Sophisticated commercial mindset, ensuring that agenda is positioned within the broader business and wider industry/economic context
      • Confident in building and leading innovation practices at enterprise and local levels, and complex project management
      • Excellence in communication, speaking/presentation, writing and editing skills, able to coach as well as personally execute
